Periodontal Cleanings

Periodontal debridement, or cleanings, is the first line of defense in the treatment of the periodontal diseases: gingivitis and periodontitis. Like other diseases, periodontal diseases require treatment to reverse or maintain the disease from spreading. The type of cleaning you receive will depend on the severity of the disease: mild, moderate, or severe. Soft and hard deposit will be removed from your teeth, giving your gums a chance to heal. The periodontist or hygienist will also review home care with you and give you samples of tools that will help you maintain good oral health at home.
